کچھ اپنے بارے میں

   

A journalist by profession, started his career in 1968 with Daily Chataan, the largest political weekly at that time, in the Editorship of Agha Shorish Kashmiri. This job was started part time after just doing Matriculation since he was completing his studies besides work.

Joined Daily Maghribi Pakistan in 1972 and  when Jang Lahore was Launched in October 1981, Mr. Athar Masood Joined Jang and within a few years became its Editor and when THE NEWS was launched he was its editor as well,then he became The Group Editor of Jang Group and served for 19 years. Due to political pressures he resigned many a times. After he left Jang Group in 1997 he worked and established various Institutions as Editor in Daily Nawa-i-Waqt, Daily Pakistan, Daily Azad and Daily Jinnah. Mr. Athar Masood was also awarded the highest Professional Civil award of Pakistan  “President Of Pakistan’s Pride of Performance” for his services in the field of Journalism in 1994 which he along with Zamir Zaidi returned to the then PPP government in protest for closure of Evening Papers in  Karachi. The award was returned by the government and papers were restored. His last assignment was as Group Executive Editor Daily Jinnah, however due to political pressure he was again forced to resign and go home. Currently He is working free lance and writing Columns and participate in various TV Programs. Currently he is also working on his autobiography along with a translation of the Holy Quran.
